What does a day at Brookline Teen Outreach actually look like?
Sometimes, the best way to understand what BTO does is simply to see it. Click the link for a glimpse of a day at BTO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gz9QsfEpdD0
From the moment young people walk through our doors, BTO becomes a place to connect with friends, try something new, get support, learn, laugh, create, and be themselves.
There isn’t one way to experience BTO. One young person might spend the afternoon working on a project. Another might join a group activity, get help with schoolwork, talk with a trusted adult, or simply spend time with friends in a space where they feel comfortable and welcome.
Those everyday moments are an important part of what we mean when we talk about investing in Pittsburgh’s next generation.
Opportunity Doesn’t Always Look Like a Big Moment
When we think about investing in young people, it’s easy to picture the big milestones—a first job, a leadership opportunity, a new skill, or an academic achievement.
But opportunity is also found in the everyday.
It’s having somewhere to go after school.
It’s having adults who know your name and notice when something is different.
It’s having the freedom to explore an interest, make a mistake, try again, and discover something you didn’t know you could do.
It’s having a community where you belong.
At BTO, these moments happen every day.
This Is Pittsburgh’s Next Generation
Our Invest in Pittsburgh’s Next Generation year-end campaign is built on a simple belief: young people are not simply Pittsburgh’s future. They are part of Pittsburgh today.
When we invest in young people, we are investing in the relationships, skills, confidence, and opportunities that help them grow—and in the communities they are already helping shape.
That investment doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes it looks like a safe place, a trusted adult, a new experience, or an afternoon spent doing something meaningful.
This is what opportunity looks like.
And this is why BTO is asking our community to invest in Pittsburgh’s next generation.
Help Us Keep the Doors Open to Opportunity
Our goal is to raise $40,000 by December 31 to support free programming and services for Pittsburgh youth ages 10–18.
Your support helps BTO provide after-school programming, counseling, workforce and life-skills opportunities, arts and STEM activities, leadership development, violence prevention, and a welcoming place where young people can connect and grow.
Help us make sure Pittsburgh’s young people have opportunities to thrive—not someday, but today.
